Armadillocon Writing Workshop Manuscripts Due Soon and Maybe Sooner…

The workshop last year was nearly at capacity. Honestly, if I had my druthers I would love to coordinate an infinitely scaleable writing workshop, but alas we are bound by space and time i.e. the hotel’s undeniably solid walls and finite number of tables and chairs.

While we may not reach capacity (I don’t predict infinite growth being a regional convention/workshop after all), I will be cutting off enrollment at 70. If we do go beyond that vaulted number, I will initiate a waiting list. If that does come to pass, I’ll post more specifics about how that will work after the submission deadline.

If you want to lock in your spot in the workshop, consider submitting sooner as opposed to later. The HARD deadline is MIDNIGHT on Friday, June 14th. This will be in effect whether we reach our limit or not, because DEADLINES dammit! Seriously, treating deadlines with respect will get you a long way in your writing career, so write like the wind and remember “perfect is the enemy of the good.” Aim for good and on time.

I’m back baby!

Last year when I started working on my novel in earnest, I felt that I needed to give myself the space to focus on it exclusively. I put aside both writing short stories and this blog. I had hoped to complete the novel in one year but I’m now looking at something more like 18 months. I am happy to adjust my goal in this case. I have learned so much about writing long-form fiction as I have slowly scaled the mountain that is this draft. I still have a lot to learn, but now that finishing is on the horizon, I’m ready at least to rejoin the blogosphere.

While I haven’t been blogging, I have been doing other things with both online and IRL writing communities, and I will be putting together the Armadillocon Writing Workshop (see sidebar) again this year. Since I need to get some more words written for my novel and also need to get the word out about the workshop I’ll be hosting a cabin at Camp Nano in April. Check out the next post for more information.
